European Parliament 2024-2029 TEXTS ADOPTED P10_TA(2026)0334 Recommendation on EU-China political relations European Parliament recommendation of 7 October 2026 to the Council, the Commission and the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy concerning EU-China political relations (2025/2117(INI)) The European Parliament,  having regard to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights treaties and instruments, in particular the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide of 1948,  having regard to its resolutions on breaches of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, adopted in accordance with Rule 150 of its Rules of Procedure,  having regard to its previous resolutions on the human rights situation in China,  having regard to its resolution of 28 November 2024 on Hong Kong, notably the cases of Jimmy Lai and the 45 activists recently convicted under the national security law1,  having regard to its resolution of 13 November 2025 on addressing transnational repression of human rights defenders2,  having regard to Regulation (EU) 2023/2675 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 November 2023 on the protection of the Union and its Member States from economic coercion by third countries3,  having regard to its resolution of 24 October 2024 on the misinterpretation of UN resolution 2758 by the People's Republic of China and its continuous military provocations around Taiwan4,  having regard to its recommendation of 26 November 2025 to the Council, the Commission and the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on the EU's diplomatic strategy and 1 OJ C, C/2025/1805, 4.4.2025, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/C/2025/1805/oj.
