Subject:
VP/HR - Chinese occupation of Tibet
With regard to the ongoing Chinese occupation of Tibet, it has been reported that more than one
million Tibetans have died as a result of Chinese policy in the area. There have been widespread
human rights abuses, unlawful incarceration, political, cultural and religious oppression and, in some
cases, actions in the area have been described as cultural genocide.
This is of course a complex issue with the territory concerned still disputed. However, can the VP/HR
outline what efforts the EU is making to eradicate reported human rights abuses in the region?
Can the VP/HR outline what efforts are being made to find a solution to the ongoing occupation?
